Mascot

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unanimously selected ‘Blaze’ and ‘Tonk’ as the official mascots for India’s 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup. Blaze, a female mascot, is a fast bowler with remarkable accuracy and agility, equipped with six power cricket orbs for game-changing tactics. Meanwhile, ‘Tonk,’ the male mascot, is a batting champion known for his icy-cool composure and electrifying shot range, wielding an electromagnetic bat. These mascots, named by fans globally in August, will engage with fans at tournament venues, adding excitement to the event.

The 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be held in ten stadiums across India. The semi-finals will be at Wankhede Stadium and Eden Gardens, while the final will be at Narendra Modi Stadium. BCCI has funded stadium upgrades. All stadiums must maintain boundaries over 70 meters, aiming to reduce the impact of the toss and dew factor. Pitch curators have been instructed to leave grass on pitches.

  9. Mumbai – Wankhede Stadium (Capacity: 32,000)
  10. Pune – Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Capacity: 37,406)

Teams

The number of teams participating in the World Cup in 2023 is 10. The inaugural match will occur between the defending champion and New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The same venue will be used for the final game between the top two teams.

Knockout stage

In the knockout stage of the 2023 Cricket World Cup, if Pakistan reaches the semi-finals, they will play at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. If India qualifies, they’ll play at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium unless facing Pakistan, in which case the match shifts to Eden Gardens. All knockout games have a reserve day. The semi-finals are scheduled for November 15 and 16, with the final set for November 19 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Star Sports Network India will broadcast the 2023 Cricket World Cup, with coverage on Star Sports and Disney+ Hotstar in India. Other broadcasters include Foxtel TV, Gazi TV, Sky Sports Cricket, ESPN, Willow TV, and more for different countries and territories.
